Tactical Air Navigation System: a medium distance air navigation aid military system. Used to inform the pilot and/or navigator about the aircraft's position with respect to the radio beacon by means of direct reading.
The existing tactical air navigation systems which are used by the South African Air Force are currently being maintained by Sia Solutions. The systems are installed nation wide and are currently being monitored by way of remote maintenance and monitoring systems to ensure that Sia Solutions' technical personnel are able to attend to the systems speedily if and when it is necessary to do so.
